Emerald Foundation Helps Raise Funds for Liguori Academy’s Scholarship Program

On the evening of October 13, Cescaphe’s Waterworks in downtown Philadelphia provided a beautiful space to enjoy an evening of dinner, dancing, live music and most importantly fundraising for the students of Liguori Academy, a private non-profit high school in Philadelphia. With a focus on the student as a whole and their individual needs Liguori provides an education program that is individualized, flexible, and technology driven.  This fundraising event, The Boundless Celebration, is the largest fundraiser for Liguori Academy and focused on their Sponsor a Student Program.  This program gives financial assistance to the families of students most in need in order to alleviate the financial burden and help them focus on their child’s education. Individuals or groups commit to sponsoring the cost of tuition for a student for one year or more. The support does not end there but continues with the invitation to the sponsor(s) to meet and spend time with the student at Liguori events. The Emerald Foundation was in attendance at the Boundless Celebration and was represented by Joe Besecker (CEO and Founder), Martha Besecker (Executive Director), Rachel Ostrosky (Director of Emerald Esports), and Suzanne Kettler-Zeigler (Building/Operations Director and Exec. Assistant to Executive Director).

With the incubation of an eSports club and the donation/installation of gaming computers last fall, the Emerald Foundation’s Esports team put the Liguori Academy eSports lab on the path to success.  Liguori’s eSports lab was recently named the Emerald Foundation Esports Lab in honor of the donation and ongoing support and guidance in club development provided by the Emerald Esports team.  With Liguori Academy’s focus on STEM learning, this lab has increased the opportunity for students to build skills in collaboration, teamwork, communication, strategy development, entrepreneurialism, and digital literacy through gaming, all of which are core components of the Emerald Esports initiative.
