Club of the Week: Tech Freire Charter School Esports

We’re starting another week by highlighting Tech Freire High School’s esports club! Although they’re a fairly new club, that doesn’t stop them from being one of the “most vibrant clubs in North Philadelphia,” as described by Club Manager Harvey Scribner! Are you interested in catching a few games with them? You can find them playing Rocket League, Overwatch and Valorant at 3:20 p.m.

Being a gamer himself, Harvey Scribner has been involved within the esports scene since 2017, when he helped another school start up a team. He details the impact of the esports club at Tech Freire High School by saying, “Many of the students on our team are not involved in any other club or activity. It may be the first time some of them have been coached or had a reason to maintain grades and relationships with other students. It is also a way for students to be more active in marketing, competition, and the overall business of esports and associated gear and services.”

What’s the club currently up to? They’re enjoying a Winter Rocket league program they’ve been competing in and hope to continue forming friendships and rivalries with other schools! We can’t wait to see what they’re going to accomplish! Keep up with everything they have to offer:
