12.27.21 Club of the Week

Club of the Week: Annville-Cleona Secondary School Esports

We hope everyone has had a fantastic holiday season! We’re kicking off a new week by highlighting the esports program at Annville-Cleona Secondary School. Although the club is fairly new and it’s Mike Hall’s first year being club manager, they still thrive with 7th grade, 8th grade, and high school teams! While they aren’t playing in their lab, students have the ability to play at home in scrimmage ladders. Expect to catch them on the field and rift as they play Rocket League, League of Legends, and Overwatch from 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.!

Mike Hall reflects on the benefits of esports in education by saying, “…there are so many benefits that those that don’t understand gaming don’t see. Specifically, communication, teamwork, and critical and computational thinking. All of these are highly sought-after skills by employers. Being part of a structured esports club will help students hone these skills in a fun, competitive, safe, and welcoming environment.”

We look forward to seeing their club grow and flourish! Stay up to date with Annville-Cleona:
